From receipt to paid
in three steps

No spreadsheets. No mental math. No waiting days to get reimbursed.

Scan or type

Point your camera at any receipt — AI reads every line, tax, and tip in seconds — or skip the scan and just type the total for quick splits.

Split it your way

Drag items onto each person, share dishes with custom portions, or split the whole tab evenly. Tax and tip are distributed proportionally.

Send to the chat

Burse drops a pay card directly into your iMessage thread. Friends tap their name, pay by card, Apple Pay, or bank — money lands same-day.

Everything you need.
Nothing you don't.

Quick Split

Skip the receipt scan entirely. Type the total, pick who's in, done. For bar tabs, group Ubers, or anything you just want to divide evenly.

AI receipt parsing

Photograph any receipt — crumpled, faded, or in a dark restaurant. Claude extracts every line, tax, and tip.

Item-level splitting

Drag items onto each person. Steak to Alex, salad to Sam. Share a bottle of wine across the whole table with custom portions.

Open seats

Send a tab to a group chat without naming anyone. Each person taps the card and claims their seat — no "wait, who's Alex?" roll call.

Card, Apple Pay, or bank

Recipients pay with any card, Apple Pay, or a direct ACH transfer — whichever is easiest.

Auto-reminders

Flip on auto-nudge and Burse follows up at 24h and 48h with anyone who hasn't paid. No awkward texts from you.

Contest your share

If something looks wrong, participants can contest their assigned items. The tab creator reviews and can adjust the total.

Balance overview

See at a glance who owes you and what you owe across every tab. No more losing track of who paid for what last month.

Save your crew

Turn any group into a reusable template — roommates, the brunch crew, your fantasy league. One tap loads everyone in.

Your money.
Locked down.

Never more than 80¢
per person. Ever.

No subscription, no per-seat charges, no surprises. The Burse fee is 2% of the tab total — and it's hard-capped at 80¢ per person, no matter how big the bill. Big group dinner? Wedding tab? Each payer pays at most 80¢.

Dinner for 4
$120 tab
Burse fee (2%) $2.40
Your share of fee $0.60
That's 60¢ to skip the math, skip the chase.
Coffee run
$24 tab · 3 people
Burse fee $2.00
Per person $0.67
Tiny tabs use a $2 minimum — split 3 ways that's 67¢ each, still under the 80¢ cap.
Payment processing (Stripe: 2.9% + 30¢ for card, 0.8% capped at $5 for bank) is passed through at cost — no markup. Fronting the bill costs you nothing.

Common questions

Is Burse free to use?
Yes. Burse is free to download and use. The only cost is a tiny platform fee that payers add on top of their share — 2% of the bill, hard-capped at 80¢ per person. There's nothing for the fronter to pay upfront, and you always get fully reimbursed for what you fronted. On a $100 dinner-for-4 tab, each friend pays a 50¢ fee with their share. On a $2,000 wedding-size tab, each friend still pays at most 80¢.
Do I need to set up a Stripe account?
Only if you want to receive payouts (i.e., you're the person who fronted the bill). The setup takes about 3 minutes and requires basic identity verification. Participants who are just paying their share don't need any account beyond their phone number.
How do participants pay?
Each participant receives an SMS with their exact share and a secure Stripe payment link. They can pay with any major credit or debit card directly in their browser — no app download needed on their end.
What if the AI misreads the receipt?
You review the extracted items before sending the tab. You can edit any item name, quantity, or price before assigning them to participants. If the total doesn't match what you paid, you can correct it on the spot.
What if someone contests their amount?
Participants can file a contest with an optional explanation. You'll see it in the app and can choose to keep their amount as-is or adjust it. If you adjust, they'll receive a new payment link for the revised amount.
Is Burse available outside the US?
Currently, Burse requires a US phone number for account verification and uses USD for all payments. International support is on our roadmap.
How is my data used?
We collect your phone number, an optional display name, and tab/transaction data needed to run the service. Receipt images are processed to extract item data and then immediately discarded — they're never stored. We do not sell your data. Read our full Privacy Policy.
